Kara Kar was established in 1962 by husband and wife team, Bill and Jennifer Yardy. When Bill and Jennifer first started Kara Kar Trailers they couldn't have imagined in their wildest dreams the huge success that the product would bring them. In the mid 60's Bill decided to travel around Australia with their trailers and soon became renowned for having the best float at the right price. After a few years on the road Bill decided to return to head office, then based in Sydney, where it was located for forty plus years. Kara Kar had been in and around the Parramatta area for a lot of years but soon seized the opportunity to relocate to Camden when the ideal sales outlet became available. In the mid 80's Bill's son Craig joined the company at a factory level and fast became the head of design. Craig's innovations have taken Kara Kar to an even higher level. Now even more than in those earlier years, the family owned and run Kara Kar has cemented it's reputation as the benchmark in horsefloats. Practicality and safety is of the highest priority. After 40 plus years Kara Kar is still renowned for it's product reliability and affordability. In the late 90's Kara Kar moved to a more central location in Nambucca Heads New South Wales. Not only did this move create more convenience with the delivery of floats Australia wide, it also boosted the economy and created jobs for a town with one of the highest unemployment rates in NSW. Kara Kar now employ approximately 50 staff and produce 12-15 floats per week as opposed to the 3-4 in the early years. They also deliver to 14 agents across Australia and floats have been going off shore to New Caledonia and Asia. Kara Kar Trailers has come a long way from it's humble beginnings. Those early years are just as responsible for the companies success as are the more recent years. Bill and Jennifer look back now and are rightfully very proud of what they have achieved. People talk abou the "Hills Hoist" and the "Victor Lawn Mower" well now you can add "Kara Kar Trailers" amongst them as another great Australian success stories. |
